We are currently accepting sponsors to be part of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) 2024 Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Connect Summit in Downey, California.
This event will connect MBEs with incredible opportunities with DOE Program Offices and National Labs, other federal agencies, financial institutions, and nonprofit organizations working to realize an equitable clean energy future and build lasting, productive relationships. The conversations will center around the $400 billion in contract and grant opportunities available to MBEs.
Over the past year, the Office of Energy Justice and Equity (EJE) has led the critical shift to tackling the climate crisis through equity-centered solutions which ensure that underserved and overburdened communities — particularly those on the front lines of climate change — have the resources they need to thrive.
We are empowered in this effort by historic federal investments and policy advancements, like Executive Order 14008: Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, which established the Justice40 Initiative.
The Justice40 initiative directs 40% of the overall benefits of certain federal investments — including investments in climate change initiatives, clean energy, and energy-efficiency; clean transit; affordable and sustainable housing; training and workforce development; the remediation and reduction of legacy pollution; and the development of clean water infrastructure — to flow to disadvantaged communities. Based on significant stakeholder engagement efforts, priorities identified by the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council, and additional research, EJE has identified eight policy priorities to guide DOE’s implementation of Justice40.
Together, we will learn how to engage in business with key players directly responding to historic federal investments in clean energy and communities. This networking experience includes unique and fruitful opportunities not to be missed.
This year, we are offering organizations the ability to deepen their exposure with contract-ready MBE attendees and on-site Department of Energy Program Officers by offering sponsorships that can provide speaking opportunities, networking, VIP access, and preferred one-on-one matchmaking opportunities.
We look forward to welcoming organizations from across California. We are excited to spend this day creating the foundation of collaboration upon which we can build an energy ecosystem, economy, and future made in the image of equity and justice.
